History

Bega Committee and Scouts visited Tathra 8 October 1945 to seek to form Troop at Tathra and screened Scout films. Group being planned in March 1951. South Coast Times 7/6/1951 says newly formed with Troop/Pack, 2 Scout/2 Cub Leaders. List South Coast registrations has Pack/Troop registered 18/10/1951 and closed 1954. Raised £20 in Bob A Job Week.

Had 9 Cubs/18 Scouts/3 Leaders in 1952, 4 Cubs/12 Scouts/4 Leaders in 1953, 8 Cubs/1 Leader in 1954, 30 members in 1961, 38 in 1962, 35 in 1963, 33 in 1964, 26 in 1965, 21 Cubs/14 Scouts/4 Leaders in 1987, 32 Youth/5 Leaders in 1989, 30 Youth/3 Leaders in 1990, 1 Leader/ no Youth in 1991, 0 in 1992.

In June 1953 Group had received permission to build a log cabin (to be used as scout hall) on Morrisby Estate near the top of Evans Hill on Tathra - Bega Rd, construction to be done by Scouts under supervision of SM Dick Neville / ASM Lyle Sly.

Bega District News 4/5/1954 said SM Dick Neville resigned due to being away from home most of time, ASM Lyle Sly resigned due to his business requiring most of his time, Mr Huggett formerly of Cooma who had Scouting experience volunteered to take on Troop, Noel Umback running Cubs at both Bega & Tathra. Troop had disbanded by November 1954. Pack did not reregister 1954 / Troop (8 Scouts) did not reregister in 1955. Troop reregistered 7/10/1960 or 27/10/1960 with J Pratley SM. Did not reregister in 1966.

Pack/Group reregistered 13/10/1980 or 30/10/1980 / deregistered 8/3/2004. South Coast Annual Report 1993 said group newly formed. Troop deregistered September 1996
