History
First moves to form a Troop were in October 1948 when all boys interested in joining asked to be at School of Arts the following Thursday. Group registered 21/4/1952. Goulburn Evening Post 28/4/1952 said Troop formed mid-April 1952 and Group Committee had been formed. 16 people attended a meeting on 21/4/1952 to form Group. In May 1952 had 9 Scouts and had been given a drum. First investitures (by DSM C Elms) of 16 boys in 2 Patrols (Magpies and Kookaburras) was on 1 July 1952 at Masonic Hall. Crookwell Gazette 9/7/1952 said had 2 Patrols of 8 Scouts each and had boxing matches with Taralga & Crookwell including blindfolded bout. C Beresford original SM appointed late 1952 / resigned mid-1954. He had been a teacher at Richlands School for 3 years and was being transferred to Hornsby High School and was going to PNG in early 1954 / he and 12 scouts planted trees for Arbor Day were to have name on it and each scout responsible for tending his tree.
Crookwell Gazette 30/7/1952 said were to form a Senior Troop under Mr R Moran and 6 boys had been enrolled into Cubs under CM Mr C Hurford and ACM Miss W Craig and were meeting at School of Arts. Crookwell Gazette 1/10/1952 said District Commissioner had refused registration for formation of Cub Pack saying present standard did not justify it (possibly insufficient numbers). Existed in 1953 when W Wright was ASM (became SM in September 1953) and 1957 when he was transferred to Canberra. In February 1953 awarded trophy at their first rally for best all-round camp - prize was tent. 1st Annual general meeting 13/4/1953 / By 1st birthday in May 1953 had 30 Scouts / 3 Patrols (Magpie, Rosella, Kookaburra).
Troop/Pack reregistered October 1959.
