History

Pack/Troop registered 4/11/1954, met at 67 Box Rd. Bega District News 19/11/1954 said every eligible boy in settlement was a member (18 Cubs/17 Scouts) with I McKenzie GSM, L Mathews SM, A West ASM, D Mathews CM, E Thompson ACM. Group newly formed November 1954 when South Coast & Tablelands Area Commissioner C Jackson visited. Bega District New 19/11/1954 quoted CFT Jackson Area Commissioner as saying: “Recently I visited Eaglehawk, The New South Wales Public Works Department camp where the authority is building the large Adaminaby Dam, and in a population of 1,000 people, 37 are boys. The officers and people approached us to form a Scout Troop and Wolf Pack and had appointed officers to the project who hah had previous scouting experience. Of the 37 boys, whose ages ranged from eight to 15 years, 36 joined , and later the lone outsider joined up. Since the Scouts and cubs have been going, the majority of larrikinism and vandalism has disappeared in those parts. The Public Works Department officers are amazed at what has been done in such a short time and has made a cottage available for a meeting place besides making £500 available to further the movement in Eagle Hawk”.

In 1954 Mrs Daphne Matthews became CM & A West ASM, in 1955 L Matthews became SM / L Mackenzie GSM, in 1956 Mrs D Matthews resigned / W Simpson became CM, in July 1958 L Matthews/ W Simpson resigned and in September 1958 A West ASM resigned. Rego card says Area advised 26/6/1958 group closing. At Adaminaby Dam site.

Area Annual reports said in 1955 had Cubs, Scouts, 6 Leaders, in 1956 had 24 Cubs/20 Scouts/5 Leaders, in 1957 had 27 Cubs/14 Scouts/3 Leaders, in 1958 had 22 Cubs/20 Scouts/4 Leaders.

At Eucumbene Dam site. In 1958 moved from South Coast to Monaro District.
