History
(1) The Australian Town and Country Journal 2 March 1910 said ”Mr S Shute, headmaster of the public school, has been interesting himself in the boy scout movement and decided to form the nucleus of a troop here. The good done in other parts by the inculcation of discipline , kindness and healthy training, has been evident, and Mr Shute is to be commended for introducing the movement to Crookwell. Fourteen members have been enrolled and two patrols formed under the guidance of Mr Shute, who is at present acting as Scout master though the Crookwell branch of the League is not yet officially founded. The patrol leaders are Alan Keith and Arthur Hall, and the corporals Mervyn Shute and Frank Power. It is expected that the boys will be able to parade in uniform shortly. Two Saturday afternoons have already been spent in scouting, the boys taking a great interest in the work, and there is little doubt that the members will soon increase.“
(2) Group /Rover Patrol registered 25/9/1929. Troop reregistered 29/9/1950 with 18 Scouts, met at Goulburn St and later at Scout hall in Colyer St.
Had 18 Cubs/24 Scouts/6 Seniors in 1953, 13 Cubs/10 Scouts in 1957, 18 Cubs/15 Scouts/2 Seniors in 1961, 7 Cubs/8 Scouts/3 Leaders in 1987, 9 Cubs/3 Scouts/1 Leader in 1992.
South Coast annual report 1993 said reopened 1992/93. Pack/Unit deregistered July 1996 / Troop/Group deregistered September 1998. Troop/ Group reregistered August 2005. Group closed 11/7/2019. Hall at Colyer St now region controlled.
