History

Pack/Troop registered 27/3/1958 with A Christie SM (resigned June 1958) and J Patterson GSM, N Christie CM/ met at Old School. Remote township had primary school for children and not much other organised activity until Scouting came to Cabramurra in 1957. In 1958, John de Majnik became Cub Leader and Cubs became the first Cub Pack on skis in the world. John, who had learnt to ski from a very young age in his homeland, Slovene in Yugoslavia, thought it was a natural thing for the Cubs to do when they were surrounded by snow for many months. They did all the Cub work outdoors on skis and all the games were played on skis. News of the Cubs on skis reached the other side of the world and John received mail from Canada and UK asking how he had organised a Pack on snow. Another difference at that time was multi-cultural aspect of the Pack, whose 18 members came from many countries.

Had 14 Cubs/8 Scouts/4 Leaders in 1958, 15 Cubs/6 Scouts in 1959, 28 members in 1960, 18 Cubs/3 Scouts in 1961, 20 in 1962.
