Troop registered 14 June 1933 with 15 Scouts/ 1 SM, Nathaniel Smith later GSM). Pack registered 30 August 1933 and initially met at Church of England hall. Scouting in NSW April 1933 said formed largely due to assistance of Queanbeyan Rovers. First Hall small building at back of Kelly family’s home. Once group began to grow, Colonel Rutledge donated land in Gibraltar St to build hall / hall officially opened 23 /9/1939. Group not active as at 30 June 1943. Had 11 Cubs/12 Scouts/4 Leaders in 1938, 8 Cubs/10 Scouts/3 Leaders in 1940, 10 Cubs/8 Scouts/ 3 Leaders in 1942. Hall sold late 1940’s as group closed as most of leaders left to serve in World War 2. Country Women’s Association bought and still own/use that hall.
In November 1975 Pack reregistered with Patricia Jones CM. In 1979 group reformed (14 Cubs, 14 Scouts, 4 Leaders at 30/3/1979). On 23/4/1983 Minister for Lands declared Bungendore Scouts a Reserved Trust beneficiary of Crown Land at corner Turallo Cres and Majara St. Group never got to build a hall on land as it went into recess due to drop in number of youth/Leaders. Had 17 Youth/4 Leaders in 1989, 23 Youth/8 Leaders in 1990, 15 Joeys/24 Cubs/10 Scouts/5 Venturers/6 Leaders in 1991, 8 Joeys/27 Cubs/10 Scouts/5 Venturers/9 Leaders in 1992. Joey Mob formed 1991 with 13 Joeys/3 Leaders. Group deregistered in July 1998. By 2000 Bungendore beginning to boom and in 2001 Group reformed with c 50 members.
Mob/Pack/Troop/Unit/Group registered December 2001 and by June 2002 had 80 members. Group hired Anglican Church hall, which used until group grew too large. In 2004 Group moved to Bungendore showground hiring 1 of smaller buildings (and using main building when available). Group continued to grow and when it reached 100 youth, it was decided needed own hall so could use every weeknight. Group eventually secured use of hall at Buckingham Estate on Tarago Rd, which it has used since 2006. That did not adequately meet needs of Group as small, has drop pit toilet, inadequate water and is difficult for some people to get to (5km out of town). Group continued to seek alternatives. This search included 2 church halls, War Memorial Hall, Community Centre, Community Arts Centre, Council room, school hall, showground hall, Wamboin Scout Hall (25 km away).
In June 2007 Cub Pack “Palerang Demons” registered. In 2008, during search for information to celebrate Group’s 75th birthday, it was discovered that Group had Crown Reserve land held in trust. Site ideal as in middle of town opposite sporting facilities. In late 2008 Group formed a Hall sub-committee to plan, design and coordinate building a hall. Since 2009, Group has been fundraising, consulting with community, finalising plans and investigating grants. NSW Aboriginal Land Council lodged a claim on 10 December 2009 on behalf of the Ngambri Local Aboriginal Land Council for Lot 1 DP45166. Group sought refusal of the claim with NSW Land and Property Management Authority. Hall at corner Turallo Terrace and Majara St (66 Turallo). Official opening of new hall 23 September 2021 (82nd anniversary of opening of original hall)
