Scouting in NSW April 1982 said troop registered at Bowral in 1909. In 1909 Mr Haigh SM. Must have closed as Southern Mail 30/3/1926 said Troop formed February 1926 with 8 boys under Mr A Hales. Met at St Jude’s parish hall and were planning to start Cubs later. Troop registered 7/2/1926, Pack registered 15/1/1942 (started 22/12/1941 with RT Crago CM, Mrs Crago ACM), Seniors 19/7/1951 / in 1940s/50s Cubs met at Jungle, Notts Hill /Troop at Parish Hall Wingecarribee St. Celebrated 50th birthday in 1978/79. Cubs won Pax flag competition 1945 & 1949 and came 3rd in 1944 & 1946.
In 1931 hall next door to Masonic Temple and 36 Cubs/26 Scouts/5 Rovers. In 1931 went to Sydney for Baden Powell’s visit. In 1933 had 16 Scouts/1 Leader and in 1936 had 8 Scouts/1 Leader. Southern Mail 15/12/1933 said had for some time had no SM and being run by older Scout Eric Holmes. Southern Mail 18/2/1938 said SM B Denton, had 22 boys, and had decided to be bicycle Troop and had ridden to Berrima and back. Southern Mail 25/6/1943 said land donated to group by Oxley Estate. Southern Mail 11/7/1944 said Group asked Council to install light at Scout Hall in Wingecarribee St and Council did for free.
Had Seniors in 1948 but not registered as separate Troop. Senior Troop registered July 1959 with R Grenenger SM(S), deregistered June 1965, reregistered 31/3/1966 and May 1970 (with D King SSL) / Rover Crew registered January 1963 with R Riley RSL, deregistered June 1965 / W Gale appointed GSM May 1967. 1965 South Coast annual report said Seniors and Rovers not functioning but hoping to revive.
Had 17 Scouts/1 Leader in 1937, 18 Scouts/1 Leader in 1938, 18S/2L in 1939, 11S/2L in 1940, 8S/1L in 1941, 24CUBS/33S/5L in 1942, 22CUBS/24S/5L in 1943, 27CUBS/ 28S/6L in 1944, 24CUBS/19S/10R/7L in 1945, 27CUBS/26S/8 seniors/7L in 1946, 24CUBS/ 18S/11 Seniors/8L in 1947, 27CUBS/29S/6L in 1948, 28CUBS/20S/6L in 1949, 25CUBS/26S/10L in 1950, 25CUBS/ 26S in 1951 (Annual report said 27CUBS/ 30S/9L), 36CUBS/32S/3 seniors/10L in 1952, 28CUBS/44S/5L in 1953, 24CUBS/24S/4L in 1954, 17C /24S/4L in 1955, 22CUBS/24S/5L in 1956, 26CUBS/29S/5L in 1957, 23CUBS/24S/6 seniors/5L in 1958 , 75 in 1960, 74 in 1961, 84 in 1962, 87 in 1963, 59 in 1964 & 1965, 47 in 1966, 56 in 1968, 51 in 1969, 52 in 1970, 57 members in 1971, 44 in 1972, 38 in 1973.
Hall at Sherwood Ave. In 1944 land donated by a Miss Oxley, in 1946 were hoping to start building hall, in 1951 hall was under construction, existed in 1952. Hall opened early 1952.
In January 1980 Cub Pack divided into 2 Packs. In 1973 was combined 1st/2nd Bowral.
Venturers deregistered August 1994, Joeys registered September 1999 with Joanne Davis JL and they went into recess April 2001. Group reregistered 10/8/1992 and deregistered 17/2/201.
